Mokra Gora has become world famous for the beauty of nature, but even more on the old narrow-gauge railway, once used by a train called Ćira, which rode on the road from Belgrade and Užice to Višegrad and Sarajevo. The renovated part of the track, which includes the Šarganska osmica (track loop in the form of number 8), is especially attractive today. The track is 13.5 km long and has 22 tunnels and a dozen bridges and viaducts. You can take the same, hop onto the old Ćira train and at least for a moment return to the old age of that time, see the unseen from the train windows, wash your face at the healing source called White water and visit “Drvengrad/Küstendorf” – Kusturica’s ethno village.
